Since Stephanie had a bad day, the Ladyfriend and I took her for a drink or two. At ten, ordered off the happy hour menu, which was a remarkable amount of food for a small price.
Stargate: Continuum
14 December, 2009 - 20:23 | by ElliotA movie that's been in the queue for relatively forever; finally the capstone on this particular Stargate saga.
Bonfire
12 December, 2009 - 01:30 | by ElliotDimly lit but excellent food, after the Zero 7 show we were hungry. The burger was excellent with chipotle relish. The fries were perfectly salty and seasoned.
Echo
11 December, 2009 - 21:30 | by ElliotA popular predestination for shows at the Wonder Ballroom before Zero 7.
Sliding Doors
10 December, 2009 - 22:24 | by ElliotI really really liked it. I thought it was very clever the way they flipped between the... sliding.
Bridgeport Ale House
6 December, 2009 - 14:35 | by ElliotIt was a fun Saturday night. I had the two seasonal beers: the Ebenezer and Hop Harvest. I also had the St. Johns Pizza; it was quite good.
2009 Holiday Ale Festival
3 December, 2009 - 10:47 | by ElliotWhile not a pub, still a drinking outing; I had several, most didn't particularly stand out. Just got around to entering my notes.
- Anchor Brewing, Old Foghorn Ale
- Bear Republic Brewing, Barrel Aged Old Baba Yaga
- L: This one rocked my world and called me the next day. Also: it was over (and because of) the Old Baba Yaga that I received perhaps the most romantic compliment ever: "If I could reduce you to a beer, this would be it." (Probably because it was 11% ABV, and I tend to have a pretty high blood-alcohol level most days.)
- E: This is the beer that starts nights where one wakes up the following morning 300 miles away without pants on
- Brasserie Dupont, Avec Les Bons Voeux 2009
- Full Sail, Wassail Holiday Blend
- Hopworks Urban Brewery, Kronan the Barbarian
- I thought it was a too malty
- L: This—in a weird, crossover way—reminds me of why I don't drink white wine.
- Stone Brewing, Bourbon Barrel Arrogant Bastard Ale
- E: Meh.
Ganglia and OpenBSD
1 December, 2009 - 15:11 | by ElliotOpenBSD does't enable multicast by default. I learned this the hard way trying to get Ganglia to run on a seemingly deaf OpenBSD host.
Horse Brass
29 November, 2009 - 18:22 | by ElliotI had a London Pride from Fullers Brewing and an Inversion IPA. London Pride was bland.
RiffTrax: Twilight
28 November, 2009 - 16:45 | by ElliotIf anyone ever asks you if you want to watch Riff Trax say that you do. They're hilarious.
